What is One Photo?

One Photo is an experimental project; A journey into time, things, place and space.

A traveling disposable camera is sent out to the world and asks people it meets to take ONE PHOTO of any thing, any event, or of any one that triggers interest, inspires, disgusts them at that particular first chanced meeting with the camera.

The idea is based on the premise of interconnectedness of people despite and in spite of differences, status, which part of the world we live in, transcending gender, age, race, sex, color. The concept of a “shrinking world” and the world being small comes to mind. Add six degrees of separation. More so in this Internet age, we are all closer than we think (never geographically of course) to the people around the world. We are all reciprocally connected.

One photo experiment will challenge or prove just that ‘connectedness’. What is that ONE PHOTO most people will take if they can only take one shot at it? Will we see a pattern of the kind of pictures that people take across the globe or even locally? If you have only one photo to take, why did you choose that particular scene? Could people be more random in their choices and just point and shoot or give considerable thought before taking that shot and choose wisely?

Who is it for?

This is for everyone but not any one!

For this project to be successful, this writer implores every one who wishes to participate to accept the traveling camera with all seriousness that the project calls for. Your full support and thoughtful consideration in passing it on ONLY to willing, serious, visionary, adventurous, idealistic, romantic and sentimental like us is key to making this project work. Please give the camera to people you know who after explaining the concept to them in brief shows genuine interest on completing the task.
