Guideline

To The Receiver of the Camera

The receiver understands and accepts that this is an online project. Along with the description and any photos taken, such will be uploaded and published on this website allowing public view. The photos become the property of this website with attribution to each photographer. If you own a legitimate website or blog (suitable for all ages), feel free to include your link and you’re sure to see it on your photo page.

This photo project is for people who could get access to the internet. For faster communication, documentation and transcription later, it is strongly encouraged that before passing the camera to another person, the camera holder shall send an email or answer some questions in the website about the circumstances of the photo (where and when it was taken, why the one photo subject and if willing to give out name and or website link).

1. Inspect the contents of the package.

Should include the following: one-time use camera (duh!), the photo tag (important for categorization and proper recording), a pre-paid stamped return envelope with the address where to ship back and this guideline.

2. Think ONE PHOTO.

There is no right or wrong photo but we just need ONE PHOTO. PLEASE, please don’t take more than one shot! We need this camera to go around to at least 24 people, let’s not waste the chance.

3. THINK WHAT ONE PHOTO? CHOOSE WISELY. You only get one chance at this! One Photo!

Ask yourself: If I could take only one photo at the time I received this camera, what would I take and why?

4. DON’T FORGET TO DOCUMENT YOUR PHOTO.

Write down the significant circumstances of that one shot.

5. SUBMIT thru this website via the submit form OR EMAIL your photo description to: describe[at]onephotoproject[dot]com

Please answer the following:

This one photo was taken onĀ  (Date) at (Place/location) .

I chose/picked this one shot because ___________________________________________

_________________________________________________________________________

I am: (real name or made up, something creative) . I have a website/blog: ________________

6. DON’T KEEP THE CAMERA WITH YOU FOR MORE THAN THREE DAYS.

Please consider, to finish this whole process for just one camera would take approximately 92 days! That is over three months worth of waiting. Please give the camera to the next person as soon as you finish yours. Don’t let the camera linger in your possession.

7. GIVE THE CAMERA TO SOMEONE YOU KNOW WHO WILL BE INTERESTED TO JOIN THE PROJECT AND WHO WILL FOLLOW THROUGH. EXPLAIN THE PROCEDURE.

Please don’t give this to a stranger. The idea is interconnectedness of people around the world but not necessarily among strangers within proximity of each other. In the end, we will still have “strangers” among us. You give this to someone you know, that someone may know someone, whom you may or may not know. Then that other someone gives it to another whom you don’t know at all. This someone you don’t know, is someone else’s friend, lover or buddy whom you don’t know as well… Strangers yet interconnected somehow so no need to give it to a stranger. If you’re the first receiver of the camera, you won’t probably know the 5th or 10th person it gets passes on…

8. DO TELL OF THIS ONE PHOTO PROJECT.

We are hoping that by word of mouth, this project gets around and passed on to people offline and online. Help spread the word.

9. PLEASE DON’T LOSE THE MATERIAL.

Enormous amount of time and resources are spent on this project. Please give your share by NOT MISPLACING OR LOSING THE ITEMS. Contact us at admin[at]onephotoproject[dot]com immediately for any issues.

To the last receiver of the camera: Lucky you!

After following the above steps, you are now going to mail the item back to the United States address on the pre-paid stamped envelope. Please go to your local post office and hand deliver the package to a post officer and tell them you are shipping out an undeveloped disposable camera.

With added security measures for outside threats, post offices around the world are now scanning packages (randomly or one by one) by using heavy x-ray machines which could fog the output of the film or damage the camera altogether! It is best to tell them exactly what’s on the envelope so if possible, they won’t have to scan the item.

This is an extra work for you so bless you for doing this!!

That’s it! Thank you for your patience in reading through all the blurbs…

Please feel free to reprint this page, if you lost your guideline copy sent along with the camera.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US and Happy photographing!
